Trip 663: Hiking from Batloun to Mokhtara


Calling all Spring Lovers to join the Footprints Nature Club for a beautiful hike this Sunday 24 May 2026 from:

Batloun to Mokhtara near Barouk River!

This is one of our favorite hikes in the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, and we make sure to do it in Spring. The beauty of the trail is truly indescribable.

We will start our walk from the village of Batloun and head down to the valley through a historic road before starting our walk in the valley near the river to end in one of the most beautiful villages in Lebanon: Mokhtara.

The hike is of an easy to medium level (6 to 7/10). It will be around 10 kilometers and will take around 5 hours.

سنبدأ مسيرتنا من قرية بتلون وننزل إلى الوادي عبر طريق تاريخي قبل أن نبدأ مسيرتنا في الوادي بالقرب من النهر لننتهي في إحدى أجمل قرى لبنان: المختارة.

المستوى العام للرحلة سهل إلى متوسط (6 إلى 7/10). ستكون حوالي 10 كيلومترات وستستغرق حوالي 5 ساعات.

Your personal insurance.

Cost Fees

The trip's fees will be 25$ covering:
  • Transportation from and back to Beirut
  • Cost of the guides
  • Entrance to the Shouf Biosphere Reserve

Gathering Place & Time

Our gathering will be at the traffic lights on the crossroad of the General Security building الأمن العام and El-Mathaf المتحف region in Beirut. You can park in the parking nearby starting 7:00 AM...

We will start on Sunday 24 May, 2026 at 07:00 AM.
The bus will move at 07:35 AM.
 We will stop for breakfast on the way. We might be obliged to do some modifications to the plans as needed during the trips.
We will finish on Sunday 24 May, 2026 at 05:00 PM.

    THE LESS YOU CARRY, THE MORE ENJOYABLE THE HIKE.

    Avoid Huffing and Puffing

    IF YOU CAN TALK WHILE YOU ARE WALKING, YOU ARE WALKING THE PERFECT SPEED.

    Take a Break

    TAKE A TEN MINUTE BREAK AT LEAST ONCE EVERY HOUR.

    No Food, No Fuel, No Fun

    DRINK FREQUENTLY AND EAT OFTEN.
